Pawnee Buttes National Grasslands

Field Trip

Join the Fort Collins
Audubon Society for a trip to the Pawnee Buttes and points along the
way. The Buttes are nesting sites for Golden Eagle and Prairie Falcon,
and the area in general is good for Ferruginous and Red-tailed Hawks,
and Northern Harriers. On the way to the Buttes the group may encounter
late-departing Swainson's Hawks or even a Merlin.
The trip will be lead by
Eric DeFonso. Eric is an avid local birder, the field trip coordinator
for Fort Collins Audubon, and an educational bird-handler at the Rocky
Mountain Raptor Program. He is currently researching and writing a
guidebook to the birds and bird sounds in movies and television
Bring your own lunch,
snacks, and water as eating options on the prairie will be limited.
We will carpool and Fort
Collins Audubon will help to coordinate carpooling.
Cost: Free
Trip Limited to 12 People
Trip will depart from
the Marriott at 7:30 am and have everyone back by early afternoon.
