Banding
raptors, what have we learned and where are we going?

This
full-day symposium will be held as part of the 2010 Raptor Research
Foundation meeting in Fort Collins, Colorado. The symposium will occur
on Friday 24 September, the RRF meeting occurs on 22-26 September. The
symposium is being organized by Keith L. Bildstein (Hawk
Mountain Sanctuary) and Bruce G. Peterjohn (USGS Bird Banding
Lab).
The purpose of the full-day symposium is to bring
together raptor-banders and raptor-tracking specialists to:
-
Summarize what banding has taught us about raptor
movements, longevity, and mortality factors.
-
Compare that knowledge with information derived from
newer tracking techniques.
-
Access the likely role of banding in our field in
the future.
